Visual language and grammar

Series poster design
Project Brief
We had to design a series of three posters advertising an exhibition for Kemistry gallery entitled ‘Visual Language and Grammar’ which aims to inform audiences about the application of the fundamental principles of colour and form within visual communication.
Introduction
Circles, square, triangles and lines are essential components of our visual world. By considering these elements in their pure and abstract form we aim to improve our judgement in their applied use.

A walk for visual language and grammar
While walking in my neighbohood, I clicked pictures of nature and artificial things in which I found forms. I collected them and visually started to interpret them. This became my initial ideation for the visual language and grammar posters. What I observed was that nature has organic shapes and artificial things are more geometric.
Natural and artificial forms are contrasting to each other. None of them were unpleasant in appearance. Both had its own unique characteristic and together they create a balance in the environment.

Visual Interpretation
These are visual interpretations of the contextualization of the neighbourhood. It shows how illusion is created while we look at elements or space.
These interpretations were the inspiration for the visual language and grammar poster. While working on visual interpretations, my reference was Armin Hofmann’s book called ‘Graphic Design Manual’.
