This project was a part of the accessibility class. It was focussed on the audience who are deaf and mute. After taking interviews of different people who fall under this section, we found out 4 major problem areas from which we focussed on one. The solution is based on Indian context as the audiences belong to India.

Apart from this product, we also learnt about WCAG 2.0 standard, WAVE and completed front end course of Web Accessibility ADA compliance with Udacity.

Problem Statement

Hearing children raised by deaf-mute parents suffer severe communication problems with their environment from the very moment of their birthThe deaf-mute parents try their best to take care of their kids and grandkids. Sometimes they miss out on the baby crying when they are in a different room. In India, the audio and video baby monitors that are available in the market are expensive. It is difficult for the working class to afford them.

How might we?

How might we reduce the communication gap between a deaf-mute mom and her newborn baby to provide a better childhood?

Initial Idea

Our plan was to make the tactile prototype using the sensors and radio transmitters. After successfully building the prototype we would create a website that talks about the problem and the solution. It will consist of a toolkit video showing how one can build their own device sitting at home for cheap

Due to Covid - 19, we are pivoting to digital 3D CAD models
